Photography and Fiber Arts

Maura has received numerous awards for her photography and has exhibited locally at the Fredericksburg Center of the Creative Arts, LibertyTown Arts Workshop, and in the Cenral Rappahannock Regional Library’s Uniquely Fredericksburg and Uniquely Stafford art exhibitions.


Graphic Design and Publishing

Maura Harrison has worked in the graphic design and publishing industry since 1989. An award-winning designer and photographer, Maura sees successful communication as the intersection of compelling visual design and clear information design. She has a Master’s Degree in English from George Mason University

She was the Creative Director of The Design Room, Inc. from 2009-2023. Before working for TDR, Maura was a visual communications expert with the Director’s Office of the U.S. Geological Survey. In this position, she earned numerous performance awards including a Superior Service Award from the Department of the Interior in 2005. In 2006, Maura received an Award of Excellence in the National Association of Government Communicator’s Blue Pencil Award in the category of “Soft Cover Books 50 Pages or More” for Celebrating 125 Years of the U.S. Geological Survey.
